Being convinced of God’s love and grace I professed my decision to follow Christ through baptism in 1986. Being excruciatingly shy as a child becoming a pastor/preacher was never on the horizon! However, I realized God’s call to pastoral ministry in high school (through Calculus homework!). When I finished high school I did not head off to Bible College but instead wandered off to Trent University where “learning to think” did not destroy my faith, but indeed deepened it. Following that I attended McMaster Divinity College where I learned many things including how not to preach. Since then I have been on a journey of learning and of experiencing God’s love through the ups and downs of life.
Speaking of the ‘ups’ of life, Sandra and I were married in 1999 and we have three boys, aged twenty, nineteen, and seventeen. I enjoy hanging out with family, motorcycling, kayaking, playing guitar (bass and acoustic), and attempting to read the Bible in the original languages.
The people of Calvary Baptist in Cobourg, Ontario called me to be their pastor in 2012 and in so doing rescued us from city life. Though I never go far online, you can follow me there on Twitter.
